Master Sgt. Gary C. York

I turned around and no one was there.

“No goofy, over here”. The voice was a little muffled.

Again my shoulders sunk as I turned more around.

OMG.!!!

I’ll be go-to-hell if it wasn’t Sgt. York. Smokin’ his beloved pipe.

“Well, d’ya want somethin’ to drink or not?” he asked through his teeth.
Not takin’ his pipe out of his mouth.

“D’ya have to ask? Hell yes, I want somethin’ to drink. I’m dry as a bone.”

“Here.” The Sgt. handed me his flask.                                              
“Careful now. That’s the ‘good stuff’.”

I thought he was referring to some premier moonshine, but,
it was just plain, good, ol’ water.

And yes, it was “the good stuff”. Oh , man, was it the ‘good stuff’!!!
I barely came up for air before it was all gone.

“Thank you.”

“No worries. I know. It’s a long trip over here.” He said.

Then I got a grip,

“Where’s Wilson?”

“Follow me. We’ve all been wonderin’ when you’d get here.”

My heart went into overdrive.

“God, I love you Wilson.”
