Deep in the forest lay a treasure (sorta). I didn’t even know it was there. But then again, I’ve always had a knack for finding things (of all sorts).
It was an ammo box in the crook of a tree. As I decided to open it, I knew I’ve definitely seen too many movies, ’cause as I was opening it, I was sure hopin’ it wasn’t “booby-trapped”.
“PHEW”. No “BOOM”.
But, inside was a super-nice surprise – a few little odds-n-ends of, “a Geocache”. You know, where people all over the world “stash” something using GPS. Google says it better than I do —
“Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. Wikipedia First played: May 3, 2000; Beavercreek, Oregon“
So, I’m like, “wow”, how totally cool is this. But, here’s the ‘kicker’ – it was first placed there in 2008 – 11 YEARS AGO. WHOA!!!
It said I could take something from the box on the condition I put something back in. I had nothing, so I took nothing. I closed the box up and put it back where I found it.
What a nice little uplift for the day. Here’s some pix.

Later I’ll get online and contact “somebody”. I have an address. Kinda exciting. With a little mystery added for good measure..
