Lost Memories of the Briar Patch – Found

I was rummaging through my closet for something,
what it was I forget,

when I found an old photo album –

me and Wilson, a good number of years back,
visiting his childhood home –

the “Briar Patch”.

Damn it was a beautiful and colorful place.
And, it was Fall.

The Fireweed blooms were gone, but,
the leaves were the deepest burnt red.

A field full of them made for a really rich sight.

Contrasted to the patches of “flash-fired”, half-burnt,
mostly black and skinny young trees, it was very surreal.

Because the fire burned down the bulk of the forest,
you could see for great distances.
That was a really nice silver lining of the fire.

Add in an almost cloudless, blue sky, and

“voila” an Impressionist painting if there ever was one.

I can see Vincent, or Pierre-Auguste standing at their easels
straight-away. Maybe Camille, or Paul.

Makes me wanna get out my easel.

But enough driftin’ off aesthetically, artistically.

You shoulda seen the smiles come across Wilson’s face
as we wandered through the fireweed.

I MISS MY FRIEND SO MUCH.!!!

I sure hope he’s safe, wherever he is.
After this long a time I have no idea where he might be.

But,
I don’t feel it in my bones that I’ll never see him again.
So,

I WAIT.

I know you’re comin’.!!!
