the Shadow –
the requiem –
It’s Sat., Sept. 18th, 2021. I needed to visit w/ my Muse Calliope.
So, I went to the beach.
The solace is sublime. The “calming” is incredible.
The day is gorgeous. Only a few very small puffs of clouds over the distant volcanoes – Mt. Redoubt and Mt. Iliamna.
A good little breeze is blowin’. And the Sun’s out bright.
The view is more than 1800 . Across the Cook Inlet the mountains look only a few miles away. But, they look closer than reality.
The tide is out.
And a ½ dozen people are walkin’ about.
Like I said, I came to visit w/ Calliope. She says “Hello.”
Thursday was li’l Ian’s anniversary death. Next week’s Wed. will be his birthday – 43 yrs. old. 21+ of which he unfortunately missed.
So I celebrate his short stay, sittin’ here soakin’ up my ZEN instead.
I ain’t ready to say “Hi” to the dinosaurs. Yet.
Not by a longshot.
When I get to this place (abstractly ZEN), ROSEBUD pops up
(thank you Orson Welles – Citizen Kane).
I know what my Rosebud is – Meadow Creek Lake,
the Flattops, Colorado.
I wonder what his was. Would’ve been.
Because I can, I’m gonna make it Deep Lake, the Flattops.
The last time he and his sister, Sarah, and I went campin’ together.
Who’s gonna argue w/ me? Right?
I can daydream it to be anything I want it to be.
Wonder what Sarah’s will be.
Four horse riders just joined the beach.
Tide’s a-comin’ in.
Wilson and Stumpy creep into my head. And heart.
I let li’l Ian go.
But, I gotta hold out for Wilson and Stumpy. And I will.
My time w/ Calliope is fading. She waves goodbye.
Time to – “Ramble On”
